IMO Secretary-General Pays Tribute To Seafarers At the 6th Singapore Maritime Lecture

IMO Secretary-General Mr Koji Sekimizu, encourages the pursuit of seafaring as a career or as the entry point for those seeking professional careers in the maritime industry.

His lecture, delivered as part of the Singapore Maritime Week, addressed issues encompassing Maritime Safety, Sustainable Shipping and Environment, Piracy and Seafaring as a Career.

He pays a heartfelt tribute to the work of seafarers, who are responsible for the transportation of 90% of global trade.

Addressing the issue of piracy, he hopes for more efforts to urge governments to raise the issue at international levels in a more concerted manner.
