Teams from Collective Agreement (CA) shipping companies, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, SMOU members, Young SMOU (YSMOU) and Young NTUC (YNTUC) were racking up the pin falls in SMOU’s hard fought Annual Bowling Challenge 2010 at Ehub! Orchid Bowl @ Downtown East.

Organised by the YSMOU, the annual event is aimed at building stronger and lasting bipartite and tripartite relationships amongst invited representatives from the government, shipping employers, union members, families and friends within the maritime community.

Guest-of-honour, YNTUC Executive Secretary, Mr Steve Tan credited SMOU for their role in membershiprecruitment: “Through the years, SMOU maintains its active role in membership recruitment. It is heartening to see more maritime professionals including both managers and senior management supporting the union, thus broadening the maritime network.

"It is just as heartening to note that more youth SMOU members, who incidentally are sailing out at sea, still make it a point to visit the union office and participate in YSMOU activities whenever they are available during their short shore-leave stints.”

Currently into its 5th year running since 2006, the event on 11 September saw the participation of 25 teams competing in the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition.
