Corporate Identity

SMOU adopted a new corporate identity in 2000 to better reflect its current status as a modern union. With approval from the Executive Committee, SMOU successfully implemented a new corporate identity which expresses SMOU's new mission and spirit to its members and affiliates alike.

The SMOU symbol represents an advancing ship’s bow, steadfast in its approach towards SMOU’s vision and goals. Its three precise strokes also represent the harmonious Tripartism amongst the Union, Government and Industry Partners, an everlasting force that is crucial to any union’s success.

In many ways, the arch can also be interpreted as SMOU as an umbrella which protects the interests, welfare and wellbeing of all members and affiliate parties. The corporate typeface is deliberately kept clean to convey a sense of efficiency and professionalism. The existing corporate colours were enhanced to a synergized colour palette of warm maroon and energetic blue. Viewed in its totality, the new identity reflects a world-class marine-based Union whose Dynamic and Professional Members will propel it to even greater heights.
