A visit to Central Fire Station on 10 June turned out to be an interactive day of learning for close to 20 SMOU members and their children. Touring the premises, they learnt about the job scope of a fireman, their daily operations, and watched live demonstrations of using the various equipment and handling techniques. The children penned ‘Thank You’ messages to the firemen, which they presented to them after the tour.
Thereafter, some families visited the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery to read about the history of the SCDF developments, and tried on mini fireman’s suits. The others went to the Emergency Preparedness Centre to hear about fire safety tips, emergency preparedness knowledge and life-saving skills. They also got to experience virtual natural disasters with different scenarios.
