SMOU Lunar New Year Luncheon and Hong Bao Presentation 2017

02 February 2017

An inclusive and eventful celebration took place at the Union’s annual Lunar New Year Luncheon and Hong Bao Presentation. Guest-of-Honour Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) & Second Minister for Defence announced a S$1.2 million contribution by SMOU to encourage shipping companies to provide training berths for Singaporean seafaring cadets as well as funding for TNTA & TETA programmes to continue under SkillsFuture Singapore.

For the first time, SMOU also invited seniors from various community homes together with Henderson Home and residents to join our members at the luncheon.

On top of these, it was the pre-sea graduation of the pioneer batch of Tripartite Engineering Training Award (TETA) cadets. Minister Ong presented the graduation certificates to these cadets.
