More than 100 golfers from the maritime industry gathered together for a good cause, to raise funds for the training of Officers for Singapore Flagged vessels. A record of S$211,000 was raised for the Singapore Maritime Training Fund (SMTF). More than 300 Officers and Cadets have benefited from the SMTF and are sailing all over the world.

SMOU members and the maritime community got together on 12 December 2008 , to end the year with a fun filled social night. The “Bollywood Night” was an eventful affair and provided an interesting sight as members and guests arrived in their shimmering sarees along with dhoti and kurtas.
