SMOU protects the interests of its members by promoting good industrial relations between seafarers (members) and their shipping employers, and the authorities through building strong working tripartite relationships with the local, regional and international maritime community.

Membership is open mainly to certified ship officers, subject to the approval of the Executive Committee.

• Maritime Certificate photocopy
• Discharge Book photocopy
• For those working ashore, please include your Name Card (if any) or employment letter
• For Foreigners (non-Singaporeans/PR), please include a photocopy of your Passport & Employment Pass
• For Associate Spouses, please bring along your marriage certificate photocopy and 2 Colour Passport Sized Photographs

Membership fee is only S$9 per month and can be paid through interbank GIRO or at our One Stop Service Centre on a yearly basis.

The NTUC is a national federation of trade unions of workers in the industrial, service and public sectors. As at 2012, it has 61 trade unions and 14 associations affiliated to it.
